The School of Life Sciences and Sustainability presents the SLSS Seminar Series featuring Dr. Wilson K. Clements of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Dr. Clements will present “Defining the Hematopoietic Stem Cell Specification Niche,” exploring the cellular and molecular factors that guide hematopoietic stem cell development. His research examines how blood stem cells are specified from primitive endothelium and how these developmental programs can be applied to regenerative medicine and gene therapy. His work also investigates how normal hematopoietic programs are coopted in cancer, with a focus on B-lineage leukemia and the genetic mechanisms that influence tumor formation, metastasis and treatment outcomes.
