Jerry Peters, Ph.D.
Professor Emeritus
Research Interest
Jerry Peters’ research focused on the long-term study of the Azolla–Anabaena symbiosis, a unique relationship between the heterosporous aquatic fern Azolla and its nitrogen-fixing cyanobacterium Anabaena azollae. His work explored how this partnership functions within specialized leaf chambers, contributing to both the biology of plant–microbe interactions and broader ecological understanding of nitrogen cycling.
