Footprints on the James (ENVS 491/BIOZ 399)

This is a six-credit, three-week summer expedition (May 18- June 18, 2026) that takes students down the James River watershed by canoe, bateau, raft, and sea kayak. Along the way, you'll join biologists, historians, and outdoor experts to explore the deep connections between human and natural history. Loving the outdoors and traveling together, you'll trace the path of a raindrop as you study the landscapes and stories it connects to. 

Cost

6 credits + $200 expedition fee.
